A leading international, multidisciplinary consultant with offices in London and throughout the Gulf States, Middle East and Africa, is seeking to recruit a senior transport planner to work in its London design office. Though the post is based in London, there may be opportunities for travel and work outside the UK. The candidate is likely to have minimum 10 years’ experience of working in a multi-disciplinary design environment.

The role will involve:
• Working on large international projects, predominately within the Middle East and Africa
• Developing and monitoring surveys for collection of planning data.
• Modelling traffic flows using mathematical techniques and specialist computer applications.
• Preparing traffic demand forecasts for all transport modes.
• Forecasting the effects of transport improvements, policy changes and environmental changes on traffic patterns and volumes.
• Providing planning input to multi-criteria analyses for infrastructure projects.
• Coordinating project details with superiors.
• May act as project manager and managing projects led by the department.
• Maintaining liaison and providing technical support to other departments, area offices, and project sites as required.
• Contributing to deliverables and ensuring that they are submitted on time and to the highest quality;
• Interacting with the Client representatives through meetings and presentations to represent the company’s interests;
• Ensuring the Company’s QA system is applied at all times;
• Monitoring of work produced by others within and external to the Transportation Department in the process of preparing reports and documentation for issue;

Candidates should have:
• Undergraduate Degree in Transport Planning or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• MSc. or Ph.D. is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing mobility plans and strategies as well as in sustainable transport, micro-mobility (in particular, electro-mobility), and innovative and alternative transport technologies;
• Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills;
• Fluent written and spoken English and have good report writing abilities. Knowledge of a second language is an added bonus.
• Attention to detail;
• Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines;
• Initiative, motivation and be a team player;

Preference will be given to candidates with experience of projects in the Middle East and Africa.

Candidates may be expected to travel overseas at short notice for short and long-term assignments of up to 1 month.

The remuneration package includes:
• Basic monthly salary negotiable in accordance with relevant experience;
• Salary uplift of 35% while working overseas;
• Per diem payments while working overseas;
• Non-contributory pension scheme of between 10-16%;
