Leicester has ambitious plans to be a city leading the way on public transport, cycling and walking. The council’s new Leicester Transport Plan aims to accelerate investment in sustainable transport over the next 15 years, building on the successful Connecting Leicester and Transforming Cities Fund programmes. This is an exciting time to join us. Working as part of a professional and dynamic service, you’ll have the opportunity to use your technical expertise and leadership skills to make high-impact decisions. You’ll benefit from agile and flexible working where you’ll be to work from City Hall or from home.  However, you’ll be required to attend meetings and across the city and occasionally the country.

This is full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll develop and influence innovative public transport strategies to help shape the future of Leicester though new transport infrastructure and services that support the city’s development and encourages people to travel by bus. As the lead for this programme, you’ll drive forward delivery of our new Leicester Buses Partnership, working with regional partners to increase our profile, maximise funding opportunities and deliver a high quality, sustainable network. You’ll work closely with other transport service leads to ensure an integrated approach to the delivery of these priorities is achieved.

What you’ll need

First and foremost, you’ll have in-depth knowledge of the public transport sector having delivered high quality bus service improvements.  You’ll be committed and passionate with the enthusiasm and determination to drive exciting change and deliver results. You’ll thrive in the partnership environment and have the ability to work effectively across services such as briefing councillors, external partners and engaging with stakeholders and the public.
