What you’ll do

As a Project Sponsor, you’ll provide dedicated support to investment projects or programmes. Reporting to a Senior Project Sponsor, you’ll help them to make sure projects deliver agreed benefits and value for money, based on an agreed business case that you help them write.

Early in the project lifecycle, you’ll play a part in agreeing requirements and confirming baseline scope. This will involve helping the Senior Project Sponsor consider a range of different business pressures and priorities.

During the delivery phase, you’ll help to monitor and control delivery of the agreed scope, supporting the Senior Project Sponsor in assessing the situation and advising decision-makers on the right response.

What you’ll need

You’ll ideally have a recognised project management qualification such as the APM Introductory Certificate, plus membership of a professional body such as APM, degree level education or equivalent experience. You’ll also demonstrate knowledge of Urban Transport Policy infrastructure related consents, safety protocols, design standards and modelling techniques.

Crucially, you’ll need to be good with people – from the colleagues you support on projects, to the stakeholders who you’ll help to manage, through to the wider sponsor community. We’ll also expect you to have skills in presenting information, networking and influencing.
