We are looking for an experienced public transport professional to join North Northamptonshire Council as our Senior Public Transport Officer. Sitting within the Highways & Transport service of our Place & Economy directorate, the role forms part of our Transport Strategy team. Working with our transport planning and sustainable transport officers, you will play a key role in developing and implementing plans to improve bus services for North Northamptonshire’s residents, including expanded services provision in our rural areas.
As one of our small public transport team, you will be play a key role in delivering our statutory duties and other priorities for public transport. You will help to deliver an improved bus network for North Northamptonshire by leading on specific elements of the delivery of our Enhanced Partnership with local bus operators, helping to draft an annual Bus Service Improvement Plan and contributing to the development of North Northamptonshire’s first Local Transport Plan. You will review commercial bus service registrations and prepare service specifications and contract documents for tendered services. You will manage the issue of concessionary bus passes and our Bus Real Time Passenger Information system and maintain the relationship with community transport operators. You will comment on planning applications for new developments form a public transport perspective, seeking appropriate public transport improvements.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have a good knowledge of the bus industry from the local government perspective and of the statutory role of local authorities relating to bus services. Experience of commercial registrations, service tendering and responding to planning applications will be desirable as will knowledge of the rail industry.
