Canal and Rivers Trust

Canal and Rivers Trust

Project Coordinator (Quietways)

Up to £35,000 per annum dependent on experience

Fixed-term contract until 31st March 2017

Little Venice, London W2

About the role

We manage a wide range of waterways in London – from the inner city bustle of Docklands and Regents Canal to the newly restored Bow Back Rivers in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We’re improving the towpaths along these waterways with investment provided by Transport for London. You’ll represent the Trust at all stages of our programmes, liaising closely with TfL, London boroughs and other partners, as well as with towpath users themselves. Your aim? To help deliver better towpaths for everyone, including for the thousands of people who journey along them by bike and on foot, whilst promoting respect for the unique character of our historic waterways and all users.

About you

The key to this role is building consensus with stakeholders, securing grants and working closely with our delivery teams. So excellent communication skills are very important, as is the ability to develop strong working relationships at all levels. Having previously implemented walking and cycling infrastructure, you will have a good understanding of pedestrian and cycling behaviours in shared use, off-road and highway environments. You will also have experience of project inception, development, securing funds and delivery along with strong financial reporting and forecasting skills.

About us

One of the UK’s biggest charities, we care for 2,000 miles of historic canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs, along with museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of protected historic buildings – preserving them for future generations. Our mission is to have by 2020 a thriving, sustainable waterway network cherished by a public that shares a deep sense of responsibility for its wellbeing. We’re already on this journey. Come and be part of it.
