We recognise the vital importance of the Highway network, not only to the economic growth of the county but to keep local communities safe and connected. The local highway network is the most valuable publicly owned asset managed by ESCC.

As a local authority we are always pushing the boundaries in terms of innovation, ensuring we continue to look at new ways of working and introduce fresh ideas, whether that be the materials we use in our roadworks, our processes or communications.

With such a vast network of assets, including roads, footways, street lights, structures and traffic signals, there is huge amount of work to do to keep the network safe and maintained to support residents and communities.

About the role
The Highway Asset Management Team is at the centre of our strategic approach to managing East Sussex highway assets. The team play an essential role in:
• fulfilling our statutory obligations
• ensuring value for money
• keeping our highway users safe
• develop and drive service initiatives through partnership working

As the Asset Team Manager, you will be the driving force of efficiency and improvement within the Highway service, responsible for representing highway Asset Management to stakeholders and delivering Asset Management through a team of technical experts, engineers and technicians.

Your role will be to continue the maturity of asset management in the highways department through constant review and assessment of how the service works. You will represent the County at a local (South East) level and Nationally regarding highway asset management and collaborate with peers in other authorities to ensure best practice in East Sussex.

You will be working collaboratively across teams, other authorities and agencies, with residents and communities of East Sussex at the heart of all you do.

We are seeking a self-motivated, skilled individual with a proven background in strategic thinking and leading teams. Performance and project management, partnership working, and an extensive knowledge of the latest asset management practices will be key.
