Role overview:
We are recruiting for two Major Roads Planning and Project Officers:
Major Roads Planning & Project Officer – Technologies & Innovation
You will support the development and implementation of TfN’s Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Strategy to ensure TfN plays a key role in improving Electric Vehicle rollout across the region.
You will also be required to support TfN in delivering ‘Centre of Excellence’ capability and capacity to local authority partners. For example, in developing evidence to inform TfN and TfN’s partners on recommendations for future policy and investment in road transport, such as electric vehicle charging infrastructure, digital and communication technologies.
Major Roads Planning & Project Officer – Partner Support
You will support TfN in delivering ‘centre of excellence’ capability and capacity to local authority partners. For example, providing evidence and support for Bus Service Improvement Plans, Major Road Network and Active Travel improvements.
You will also be required to support the Major Roads team through working with TfN’s transport modelling and analytical team in providing data and evidence to inform TfN and TfN’s partners on developing recommendations for future policy and investment in the Strategic and Major Road Networks.
The successful candidates for both the above roles will support the TfN Major Roads Team in working with DfT, National Highways and Local Authority partners in determining and agreeing priorities aligned to the Strategic Transport Plan Objectives for investment in the North’s Transport Networks.
You will also be required to manage, control and/or deliver assigned work programmes to meet defined objectives. You will be expected to deliver your scope of work in line with budgetary, compliance, regulatory and planning controls.
What we’re looking for:
The successful candidates must have experience in major highways and/or transportation programme development and delivery and will have the ability to understand and work in partnership with the Local Transport Authorities, Department for Transport, National Highways, Network Rail and/or other national agencies.
Proven experience across a range of relevant projects and programmes of work, degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience and a relevant professional qualification is essential.
Please note the salary range is pending cost of living uplift for 2023/24
