An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Highways Engineer ready to make a real impact on maintaining the highway network in Rutland.

We are seeking a talented professional to join our dynamic team to assess, design and implement highway maintenance and improvement schemes, preparing works orders to the term maintenance contractor in connection with the Sections’ requirements, and to supervise the award of contracts, including liaison with third parties, and the agreement of payments.

Working closely with other Highway officers and teams to ensure the network is kept in a safe condition, the role is also required to enter scheme information into the Asset Management System to provide a robust defense against highway claims.

Previous experience of delivering highway safety and maintenance projects, with a good knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice such as the Highways Act 1980 and Well Managed Highway Infrastructure is required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge and expertise in highway maintenance as well as a full UK driving license.
