Senior Traffic Modeller
Central London
c.£37,000
We implement the Mayor's Transport Strategy for London and manage transport services across the Capital. From London Buses to Cycle Hire Schemes, and from Underground and Overground Rail to River Services, we’re pushing out the boundaries for the rest of the industry worldwide. Which should allow you to break new ground as a Senior Traffic Modeller.
It’s vital that we have the best possible operational modelling capability, as that’s one of the tools we need to develop our business and plan London’s strategic network, including the Mayor’s proposed new cycle route. As part of our world-leading Operational Modelling & Visualisation Team, you’ll have a key part to play.
You’ll be involved in the development of signal schemes as you focus mainly on modelling, simulation, design, audits and network impact assessment, which will involve researching and designing new software. You’ll support the outcome delivery team by assessing schemes and developments and providing expert advice so that they understand the impacts.
Additionally, you’ll provide advice and assurance on models being developed by internal and external stakeholders. You’ll also undertake and review modelling of events, planned closures and major road works to ensure a suitable level of detail has been used for what’s typically very high profile operational work.
On top of your training in traffic modelling and transport planning, you’ll have proven practical experience and familiarity with LinSig and TRANSYT, as well as micro-simulation or 3D tools. Well-developed data analysis skills will be key, and you’ll be as much of a doer as a thinker. A great deal of our work makes headlines, and a lot of it is innovative. In return for your commitment, you will enjoy excellent benefits including discounted travel.
