Multiple Engineering, Streetspace and Project management roles:

Haringey Council is embarking on a major transformation of the borough and to achieve this we are investing millions to reduce road danger in the borough (£1.6m for 2022/23 with likely further investment), improve our highways and public realm, and deliver high quality walking and cycling projects as part of the new Streetspace Programme (£5.1m over three years). We are committed in our ambition to meet the objectives set out in our Transport Strategy, The Climate Emergency and Air Quality Action Plan and the emerging Road Danger Reduction and the Walking and Cycling Action Plans.

We have several newly created permanent and fixed term positions which we are looking to fill. All posts will sit within the Traffic and Parking Group which includes the Parking, Traffic Engineering and Major Projects teams as well as the new fixed term Streetspace team.

Although the job descriptions for Principal Engineer, Senior Engineer and Engineer are generic for Traffic and Parking, the jobs we want to fill are for specific teams, however there may be opportunity to move between teams. If you join us, you will get the opportunity to take schemes through from inception to delivery on the street, working with various internal teams and external stakeholders.

Streetspace Programme
£5.1m has been approved for a three-year period to help deliver the Streetspace Programme which actively seeks to encourage shift to more walking, cycling, wheeling and use of public transport. We have just approved delivery of our first three Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, are continuing roll out of School Streets, and have plans to deliver strategic cycle routes as well as local cycling routes across the borough.

To help achieve this, we have undergone a major reorganisation to build in capacity necessary to deliver our ambition of becoming one of the best London Boroughs for walking and cycling.

We have set up a new team which will be under a 3-year Fixed Term Contract (with an opportunity to extend subject to further funding being made available) and are therefore looking to fill 5 roles.
