About The Team & Role
This is an exciting time for a talented, self-driven professional to join our team at Gloucestershire County Council. Working as a member of the senior leadership team, you will have full accountability for managing the commissioning of multi-million-pound highways capital works, managing the development and production of the future programme of works to meet the Council’s objectives.
You will be responsible for delivering diverse and technically demanding highways projects in line with budgetary compliance, regulatory and planning controls, and will demonstrate significant technical knowledge and experience.
About You
As the Programme & Major Projects Manager we will rely on your excellent organisational skills to allow you to prioritise workloads and ensure our service levels are maintained. Working in collaboration with all key stakeholders, contractors, the media and partners, building working relationships under tight deadlines and targets.
Importantly, the Programme & Major Projects Manager has responsibility for delivering our ambitious programme of infrastructure projects, managing our project management resources and coordinating programme demands. Using industry experience to work with stakeholders, manage expectations, effectively challenge and drive delivery is imperative in this role. Confidence and commercial experience in managing, negotiating and finding creative resolutions in highways contracts is a key part of the role.
The skills required to deliver such a programme are considerable and require an understanding of project and programme management, procurement and commissioning of infrastructure projects, stakeholder engagement, commercial negotiation and contract procurement, transport planning and statutory legal processes.
