We currently have opportunities at all levels to join our Rail Planning & Operations Practice, advising clients such the DfT, Train Operating Companies, Network Rail, among many others. We have a broad and expanding portfolio of projects both in the UK and internationally, covering major infrastructure schemes, rail franchise technical advice, demand forecasting, operational and financial analysis, and much more. Whether it’s high profile rail franchise procurements, or the development of bespoke analytical tools to forecast the impact of a new station, Atkins has the variety and complexity of projects to meet your needs.

Essential Criteria

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Interest in, and knowledge of, the UK rail industry structure and processes
• Ability to work flexibly across technical disciplines and locations
• Excellent people skills

Desirable Qualities

• Prior experience of working in the rail sector
• Experience of working in a consultancy environment
• Masters degree in a related subject
• Highly numerate (e.g. educated to A-Level or degree level in a subject such as Maths, Physics or Economics)
• A good understanding of, and experience in applying, Quality Assurance processes
• For senior positions, a demonstrable track record in project management, business development and bid writing
