About the Role
As a Senior Strategic Transport Planning Officer, you will thrive on helping to design and deliver sustainable transport strategies, solutions and schemes.
The role is integral to the work of our Strategic Planning and Growth team and to the delivery of the 2040 Transport Strategy for Greater Manchester in Trafford; and you will help lay the foundations for a more sustainable and active travel-oriented Trafford for future generations.
You will lead on the development and delivery of sustainable transport schemes and policies for the borough, utilising your understanding of sustainable transport planning tools and approaches, including transport modelling and appraisal.
You will work with the Strategic Planning and Growth Manager, Principal Transport Policy Officer and the wider strategic planning and growth team to supervise and develop the Council’s transport strategies and plans, disseminating your expert knowledge to team members.
You will collaborate with a range of professionals in the Highways and Transportation service and the wider Place Directorate to realise the Councils Corporate Priorities: the best start for our children and young people, healthy and independent lives, a thriving economy and homes for all, address the clime crisis and culture and sport for everyone.
You will also work in partnership with the borough’s key partners across the city region, including the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Transport for Greater Manchester, to deliver a joined-up approach to transport solutions.
About you
As a Senior Strategic Transport Planning Officer, you will bring to the role:
• An ability to develop productive working relationships and to work with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
• Practical knowledge of the use and application of transport planning techniques and processes – including transport modelling.
• An ability to find innovative solutions to existing and future transport problems.
• Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly both in writing and verbally.
• Experience of developing bids and/or securing funding for transport schemes.
