The south-east Dorset conurbation is simply a world-class place to live and work. We want to harness the potential of our coastline of opportunity and make this a place where even more people and businesses want to be. Our communities, skills, environment and quality of life go a long way to helping us achieve that. As our new Head of Engineering Infrastructure, you’ll deliver the rest.

You will provide strategic leadership to help design, maintain and develop an efficient transport system, enable sustainable growth, promote better use of the network and implement new infrastructure for the conurbation. Throughout, you’ll aim to make a positive impact — getting the best out of your talented team and working in partnership across services and with private sector organisations.

You’ll look to ensure that improved engineering services meet the needs of the public, businesses and council members, and that engineering activity shapes the area in a sustainable way while safeguarding our built and natural environments. Recommending quality solutions, you’ll act as engineering consultant and make sure that there is clarity across contracts, service level agreements and briefs so that programmes progress efficiently.

You should have an engineering related degree, management qualification and chartered status or their equivalent in skills and experience. With a background in transport engineering, you will also bring us firsthand knowledge of strategic, operational and financial management across a range of transportation services and functions. In addition, you’ll be customer-focused, able to make good decisions under pressure, and politically aware.

This is your opportunity to improve one of the best parts of our coastline and enhance your own quality of life.
