The Role
We’re changing how we do transport in Tameside and we want you to join us. Tameside is part of the Bee Network, Greater Manchester’s fully integrated transport system, bringing together buses, trams, rail and active travel to transform how people travel.

This is a busy and exiting time, with Tameside at the heart of the devolution agenda, where transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity as part of the UK’s largest regional economy outside of London.

Significant government investment is to transform transport links across the north including multi-billion-pound Trans Pennine Rail Upgrades on lines and stations throughout Tameside and work set to start on the £250 million A57 upgrade, to reduce journey times and drive growth and we want to you to be a part of it.

As the Borough’s Principal Transport Officer, you’ll lead our insight, evidence and strategy approaches, presenting compelling cases that help shape Tameside’s future transport networks in tandem with our growth ambitions. You’ll work collaboratively and proactively with our neighbours, Transport for Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. You will be an integral part of delivering major projects and sustainable growth in Tameside, including through our bold plans for Godley Green, Ashton’s Mayoral Development Zone and wider town centre regeneration ambitions.

About You
You will need to have an enthusiasm for the Bee Network and our ambitions to develop a fully integrated transport system that makes Tameside and Greater Manchester the place that makes travel easier.

You will have developed extensive knowledge of transport planning through your wide-ranging experience and will be able to hit the ground running, able to communicate complex information to varied audiences and have the energy to drive change.

You will be flexible, proactive and a team player, passionate about influencing the growth of Tameside, having an enquiring mind with the ability to be flexible, adapt to changing workload demands and new organisational challenges.

If you believe you have the skills and experience required, we’d really like to hear from you.
