Head of Digital Connectivity
to £84k
Cambridgeshire is a great place to work and live, with a diverse population, an urban centre in Cambridge, the historic Isle of Ely, Huntingdon and St Ives as well as more rural landscapes. Though large areas of the county are pretty low-lying, you’ll find the atmosphere at the Council anything but flat.
Our vision is to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire, and we’re already making significant progress towards this objective. If you’re ready to bring your professional experience and skills to a well-managed and high-performing organisation, with a strong and ambitious culture of continuous improvement, we want to hear from you.
We’re determined that Cambridgeshire should benefit from a future-facing digital connectivity infrastructure. Our pioneering Connecting Cambridgeshire programme brings together Government, local councils, telecoms suppliers, mobile operators and technology experts to make it easier to access public services. It’s driving improvements in Cambridgeshire’s digital connectivity infrastructure, using smart technology to support economic growth, and help businesses and communities to thrive.
This role will be responsible for delivering the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme as well as the overarching Digital Connectivity Strategy which is jointly owned and sponsored by the County Council and the Mayoral Combined Authority. Focusing on the three Is – Innovation, Infrastructure and Inclusion – you’ll bring a comprehensive grasp of the critical success factors, excellent sector intelligence and well-honed programme management skills to drive a step-change in connectivity.
Candidates will have a strong track record of connecting communities, business and places together to deliver high growth, as well as a nuanced understanding of how to achieve social inclusion through public services. Membership of an appropriate professional body (i.e. ICE, IHE or CIHT) would be a distinct advantage. You’ll have impressive ‘muscle-memory’ of commissioning and overseeing major programmes, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire trust and confidence in others.
