Bexley sees the potential for unprecedented levels of new development, including up to 31,500 new homes over the next few decades.  Two of London’s Opportunity Areas fall within the borough, and this is a particularly exciting time for managing how Bexley’s huge development potential will be realised.

The Transport & Development Team deliver many of the statutory transport and highway functions of the Council, and with such a wide-range of duties need someone to contribute to evolving transport proposals and relevant policies, as well as undertaking the highway development control function and approval of development-related highway works, to ensure that planning applications deliver the necessary initiatives.  You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners, particularly to establish how required infrastructure will be secured.

This is a Career Grade post and an excellent opportunity, whether you are an experienced practitioner or someone starting out on their technical career.  You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team that delivers a number of the Council’s statutory highway authority and transport functions, which in addition to development-related activities and the formulation of transportation policies and projects, includes funding bids and legal processes covering stopping up orders, public rights of way and highway records.

If your application is successful, you will be appointed at the appropriate scale and starting salary, depending on your skills and experience.  The job specification for the role explains the expectations for the post holder at each job level within the scope of the post.

To enable this, developers, investors and stakeholders require clear guidance and accurate information from the Council relating to the highway, future transport schemes, and other planned development.
