The Opportunity
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Transport Planning and Strategy Manager. This is a new post that will be responsible for developing transport plans and strategies for the Combined Authority in its role as Local Transport Authority, then working with a range of partners to put those plans and strategies in place.
This is an exciting role that will offer the successful candidate a chance to work with the Mayor to shape transport policies for our area and develop a delivery team once plans are in place. Working within a small but growing team, this is a great opportunity for a self-starter with transport planning knowledge, who wants to contribute to the growth of our team and develop a career within the Combined Authority.
What you will bring
Knowledge of current transport planning practices in respect of developing plans, strategies and programmes.
Knowledge of transport's role in the land use planning process.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective people management, excellent customer service, appropriate risk management and budget management.
Experience of managing multiple tasks in a complex programme environment.
Experience of managing and motivating a dispersed staff group.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner in order to achieve the Mayor’s priorities, plans and strategies.
Ability to lead statutory and discretionary consultation activities based on best practice techniques and methods, eliciting stakeholder and public views on transport plans, programmes and schemes.
A relevant transport qualification/accreditation, or a demonstrable equivalent level of previous experience in a similar transport role.
