Principal Transport Planner (Commissioning)

Northamptonshire County Council

As it transitions towards two unitary councils, Northamptonshire is developing an ambitious programme of highway and transport schemes. Do you have the skills needed to help drive those schemes forward?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual to join our Transportation & Development team to develop, commission and manage a programme of developer and third party-funded highway and transport schemes. You will be responsible for maintaining records of the funding secured through Section 106 planning obligations and initiating schemes using the secured funding. You will also have the opportunity to develop bids for external funding.

Planning obligations and funding agreements can be complex, so you should be a clear and analytical thinker with good record keeping and data analysis skills and the ability to generate solutions to challenging problems. You should have excellent project management and financial management skills, and proven experience of managing projects to a budget. Experience of the planning system, Section 106 agreements, major highway schemes, transport policy or local government finance will be helpful, but you will have the ability to learn quickly once in your new role.
