Your role in elevating the East Midlands
Improving transport is central to EMCCA’s goal of raising up the East Midlands region. As our new mayor has highlighted, there is no point creating more skills and employment opportunities if people cannot access them. Residents need to connect into the regional web to boost prosperity and prospects. You will be making a valued contribution at the heart of transport planning.
Your role will focus on overseeing the day-to-day delivery of EMCCA policies and strategies. There will be close collaboration with our Senior and Principal Transport Planner, Strategy Leads (Bus, Rail and Policy) and other colleagues to ensure we realise the full benefits of better transport planning.

Key responsibilities include:
• Handling day-to-day requirements related to major transport programmes/projects, contributing to their successful administration and delivery.
• Assisting in the effective communication and coordination of EMCCA’s transport policies, strategies, and programmes.
• Assisting in organising and coordinating meetings, including the management of communication and documentation for stakeholder interactions.
• Assisting in research to inform policy, plans, and strategy reviews and developments.
• Gathering research and data to support the presentation of new innovation ideas
• Handling inquiries from external organizations, constituent council members, and the public related to transport planning issues,
• Providing support in organising and producing written content for bids.
Your profile
• Degree or equivalent experience in transportation planning, civil engineering, urban planning, geography, or a related discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (such as RTPI) or demonstrable up-to-date knowledge and continual professional development.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of transportation planning principles, policies, and practices.
• Experience of transport planning, policy development, and strategy implementation within a government authority or consultancy firm.
• Experience of supporting project managers, such as delivering major programmes and projects from conception to completion.
• Awareness of the strengths and weakness and best practice of strategic transport models and other appraisal methods.
• Proficiency in working with numbers, calculations, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to organise and coordinate meetings, including managing communication and documentation for stakeholder interactions.
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders including government agencies, community groups, and industry partners.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
• IT skills including managing and analysing data and use of mapping software, such as use of MS Excel, GIS or MS project.
