In this role you will be using your knowledge of transport planning, policy and placemaking to: provide professional comments on a range of projects including small to medium-sized developments; manage a range of transport programmes and projects; prepare transport planning and spatial policy documents and determine planning applications.

The Design Conservation and Transport Team is a busy multi-disciplinary team of specialists enabling the delivery high quality developments across the borough. In addition to contributing to the work of the team your day-to-day work you will include working closely with colleagues in Development Management as well as across the council with colleagues in Highways, S106 and CIL as well as Parks and Leisure.

About You

If you are looking to progress and have demonstrable team-working skills and experience, a detailed knowledge of delivering high quality developments in a diverse inner-city context and have a track record of delivering projects on time and to budget then you are encouraged to apply.

These include:

  • The Post holder must Educated to degree level or equivalent, eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional institute.
  • Knowledge of the Planning Acts and Government guidance relevant to of town planning and transport planning and policy issues in a major city context is essential.
  • Post-qualification knowledge of the statutory planning process and local planning authority context relevant to Transport Planning, Policy and Placemaking in an inner-city context.
  • An understanding of management concepts, practices and principles gained through experience of working in multi-professional/disciplinary team environment.
  • Experience of managing projects to planned deadlines requiring complex technical work.
  • The post is Full time (36 Hrs per week based in the council’s Tooley Street offices) flexible working arrangements are subject to agreement by senior manager.
